CONFIGURATION · REPORTING · WORKFLOWS
MuseumPlus consulting.
Built around museum work.
Your collection system should support the way your team works. I help museums adapt MuseumPlus, develop useful reports and improve the workflows around their collection data.
Discuss your MuseumPlus needs
01 / WHEN TO GET IN TOUCH
A practical task.
A recurring difficulty.
You may already have MuseumPlus in place and know which part of the work is frustrating. Or you may need an experienced second view before changing the system.
- A configuration no longer reflects how your team records or uses collection information.
- A report takes too much manual work, or the information you need is hard to retrieve.
- Teams use the same fields or processes differently, making handovers and shared work difficult.
- A system change or online collection project needs someone who can connect museum requirements with the technical detail.
02 / PRACTICAL SUPPORT
Configuration.
Reports. Workflows.
MuseumPlus configuration
Review the existing setup against your requirements, identify suitable changes and adapt the agreed configuration. The aim is to make information easier to record, maintain and use, while taking existing data and dependencies into account.
MuseumPlus reporting
Define the information a report needs to provide, develop or adapt reports, and check the results with your team. This can include reviewing existing output and reducing repetitive manual preparation.
Collection workflows and project support
Work through the steps around a recurring task, clarify responsibilities and support testing of changed processes. For interfaces and online collections, I help define data requirements, coordinate with suppliers and check whether the results meet the agreed needs.
What you receive
- Configuration: agreed changes, a short change record and a test with your team.
- Reporting: a usable report with defined fields and filters, checked against agreed sample data.
- Workflows: a documented target process with responsibilities and next steps.
03 / WORKING TOGETHER
An agreed scope.
Useful results.
Start with the task
We discuss your institution, the current setup, the difficulty you want to address and the result you need.
Agree the work
We define the scope, responsibilities, required access and how to check the outcome. Advice, hands-on changes and supplier involvement are agreed for your situation.
Implement and review
I carry out the agreed work with your team, support testing and explain what has changed. We clarify how the result will be used and maintained.
The engagement can focus on a specific configuration or report, a workflow review, or support during a wider project. Technical work depends on the available access and agreed responsibilities.
For interfaces and online collections, I define requirements, coordinate delivery and support acceptance. Custom software development and ongoing technical operation are separate services for qualified technical partners, with responsibilities agreed in advance.
04 / EXPERIENCE
Technical detail.
Museum context.
I’m Florian Bachmann. I bring over 10 years of experience working with collection systems and museum teams. Before founding Bachmann Digital Collections, I worked at zetcom across MuseumPlus configuration, reporting, project management and online collections. In my final role at zetcom as Head of Customer Success, I deepened my understanding of the challenges customers face in their day-to-day work with MuseumPlus.
BDC is an independent consultancy. My recommendations follow your institution’s requirements, resources and existing systems. I work from Lucerne, Switzerland, with institutions internationally.
